Xiandi's Place

Every time I try to open a .dockzip, I get the error message : Windows cannot open this file: Windows needs to know what program you want to use...etc.

I have Object Dock Plus v 1.90, running it on Vista, I should be able to just double click on it and it should open.

I was thinking that I could just tell the computer what program to use to open it with, but I dont know what it's called or where to find it.

What should I do?

Weird. You obviously have winzip installed right? Can you change the .dockzip to just .zip?

I have WinRAR, and I did try that. It didn't work. I get this message: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged.

I could just Pm the author and ask for the file in .zip format, but that won't solve the problem.

You need to point it to ObjectDock.exe, it should be in the Objectdock folder in the Stardock folder in Program files (if it is still called Program files on Vista, XP here still )

I don't think it will with WinRar. Only with WinZip. That's one reason I don't use .dockzip anymore, confuses most folks.

Only with WinZip.

Nope, dockzip is it's own file type not a renamed zip. Just tried with WinZip 11.2 just get a error message.

Right answer!! Hooray, it works now!

Only with WinZip. That's one reason I don't use .dockzip anymore, confuses most folks.

WinRAR will do that with some types of files, I've done it before, but apparently not with dockzip files because....
dockzip is it's own file type not a renamed zip

Thanks for the help guys!!

I'll give you a wrong answer...wait, I already did. I assumed .dockzip was the same as .wba or .xsf etc.
